Super Eagles Arrive In Abuja, As Jonathan Honours Them With National Honours, Abuja Lands & Cash



The Super Eagles were on Tuesday honoured by the Federal Government for doing the country proud at the African Cup of Nations tournament held in South Africa. At a reception held in their honour, the President conferred the African champions with national honours, cash gifts and plots of land in Abuja, Nigeria’s federal capital.

The Head Coach of the Super Eagles got a reward of N 10 million while each of the players got N 5 million and the members of the coaching crew were given N 2 million each. The players and officials are also to get a plot of land each in Abuja.

Coach Stephen Keshi was also honoured with the Commander of the Order of the Niger award, assistant coach, Daniel Amokachi, goalkeeper trainer, Ike Shorunmu and team captain, Joseph Yobo were conferred with the Officer of the Federal Republic honour while other team members were honoured with the Member of the Order of the Niger honours. “This is indeed a breath of fresh air, winning the trophy is only a milestone for us and not the destination”, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the Sports Minister noted.
