Tackling Social Challenges: Ovation International gives out 2.5 Million Naira to Charity Lounge [@CHASTECHARITY]

As 2013 unwinds, Nigeria, like any other nation, has a fair share of social challenges. Some of which have persisted for a while now, among them, vast inequality, crime, a problematic educational system and high unemployment rates. Charity Lounge is inspired by the Impact Hub Johannesburg members, who are also working in that same direction for South Africa, in their own unique ways, on addressing some of these issues. They are building businesses and organizations that aim to address social needs from the grassroots level right up to up to the complex issues of society using the Fun in Fundraising Model and also celebrating role models who are living their lives for the overhaul of others.

Media Sponsorship is especially valuable to social enterprise because they help raise the profile of the organization and publicize its events. In light of that fact, Ovation International is giving media sponsorship valued at 2.5 million naira to support Charity Lounge’s convener quest in getting more solutions to major drawback in social entrepreneurship following in a trove of timeless advice.

On the other hand, Holloway Travels is ensuring maximum coordination for the South Africa Innovation Retreat for the Charity Lounge convener’s and

UN Peace Ambassador, Chaste Inegbedion to have a memorable shortest trip from the 27th Dec.to 31st Dec. 2013

Seyi Shay, Doris Simeon, Kola Kuddus, Seun Onigbinde, Steve Onu and Wow Divas are some of the names that have also contributed to the Charity Lounge’s Convener effort in making the Charity Lounge a Pan African Global Social Enterprise Outfit.

Earlier in the year, Chaste Inegbedion was invited to attend a Robben Allen Conference in South Africa, The United Nations Youth Assembly in New York, and Africa Youth Governance Conference in Ghana. He was only able to attend the one in Ghana and he made an impact of raising funds with support of delegates for the Association of Disabled in Ghana.

On the 14th of December, the Charity Lounge Social Innovation Retreat begun in Accra tagged “Standing Ovation” where he got an invitation from the Ovation International Family to witness the Ovation Red Carol and the highpoint for that night was when Celebrated Ghanaian poet, Professor Kofi Awoonor who lost his life in the Kenyan Mall attacks, and Nelson Mandela were honored at the Ovation Carol & Awards held in Accra on that Night. The Publisher of Ovation International Magazine, Chief Dele Momodu described the late professor as a true son of Africa, adding that he read several books from the literary icon. Afetsi Awoonor, son of Professor Awoonor received an Ovation Red Carol Award on behalf of the family and a cheque of ghc10, ooo was also presented to endow the fund for Kofi Awooner Poetry Competition organized by the School of performing arts, University of Ghana, Legon. The presentation was made by former President of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings. To remember his contributions to the arts in Africa, there was a dance performance by the Noyam Dance Company and a poetry performance by Chief Munin.

The Retreat in South Africa would also provide an opportunity to engage with leading social entrepreneurs, mentoring with leading personalities or institution in South Africa in honor of Late Madiba and visitation to high profile tourist centers.
