MI announced as United Nation’s UNODC Ambassador for Migrants Smuggling

Africa’s number one & Chocolate City Music rapper Jude Abaga, popularly known as Mr. Incredible was knighted on Thursday, 9 October 2012 as UNODC’s Goodwill Ambassador on Smuggling of Migrants in Abuja.

Smuggling has been defined as the procurement of such peoples into a State for financial or material benefit. Virtually every country in the world is affected by this crime; Nigeria is no exception.

In Europe, Nigerians constitute several hundreds of thousands illegal migrants with half of them concentrated in the United Kingdom. Poverty, crime, corruption and violence have been part of the vicious cycle contributing to this considerable emigration pressure. Traffickers offer young women an opportunity to travel to Europe with promises of good jobs and the ability to cater for their families, while boys and men are smuggled with promises of safety and similar work opportunities.

M.I, has been selected to speak against this vicious cycle. He serves as a role model capable of speaking powerfully against such smuggling. His journey in hip-hop within Africa stands to remind young men and women that even when the odds are stacked against you, persistence and hard-work pay off.
