Fire guts Nigerian Idol studio
IT was pandemonium all the way on Tuesday night as the Bamako street Ogba -Ikeja located Dream Studio, where TV Reality show, the Nigerian Idol is recorded, was almost gutted by fire.
It is the second time in two years that a reality T.V show studio would experience such incident. The first incidence happened last year, when the studio used for the recording of Project Fame, located inside Murhi International House, Omole junction, Isheri Road, Ojodu, was gutted by fire.
According an insider, the fire started in one of the four rehearsal rooms following an out burst of flame after a change in the source of power supply. Surge from the generator powered light sparked off the fire. It took the timely intervention of men of the Nigeria Fire Services to prevent the fire from spreading to other rehearsal rooms and the studio.
Immediately the fire was brought under control Fremantle Media Enterprises, organizers of the show, tweeted that Dreams Studio, located at Omole, Ikeja, where the Nigeria Idol is being shot, caught fire in the early hours of Tuesday, 24th January this year.
“We regret to tell our fans and followers of the show that we woke up to discover a fire situation at our studio this morning. But it has been controlled. Thanks to the swift response of the Fire Services and neighbouring residents who immensely assisted, the fire was put out"
In its official statement the organizers of the show affirmed that “We had a minor fire incident on Tuesday (24/1/2012) that affected one of our administrative offices. No one was harmed and the studio was in no way affected. We emphasised that Nigerian Idol season 2 will go according to the original schedule”.
