Lil Wayne smacks down imposter
A Lil Wayne look-alike got more than he bargained for when he tried to dupe fans into thinking he was the real deal. South African rapper Young Nucho, who dated the controversial media personality Nonhle Thema, allegedly felt the sting of Lil Wayne’s wrath this weekend, according to party-goers at the Johannesburg club Hush. US Gossip site Media Take Out claimed “more than a dozen eye-witnesses” saw Lil Wayne slapping Nucho.
The four-time Grammy Award winner was allegedly incenced that Nucho was mimicking his style. Nucho’s dreadlocks, extensive tattoos and diminutive stature had many hip hop fans doing a double-take, and the South African rapper seemed happy to bask in the misguided adulation, occupying a VIP area reserved for Lil Wayne and his entourage, and posing for pictures.
Hush’s publicist, Melanie Ramjee, however said that the real Lil Wayne wasn’t in the building.
“Lil Wayne and Drake were back at their hotels after the gig (at the Coca-Cola Dome this weekend),” she said.
“But the rest of the Young Money crew were at Hush, which is when they saw Young Nucho taking photos with girls and occupying the VIP area we had set aside for Lil Wayne in case he visited.”
A scuffle ensued when Wayne’s manager asked Hush’s owner to kick Nucho out, but according to Ramjee, no one hit Nucho.
