Kenya FA writes FIFA over Nigeria’s reception
The President of Kenya Football Association, Sam Nyamweya has revealed that they will officially complain to world governing body FIFA over the poor treatment accorded to Harambee Stars ahead of Saturday’s world cup qualifier against Nigeria.
Nyamweya said they will not let the matter lie and termed it an unfair move as Nigeria has resorted to such cheap tactics.
The team left for Calabar on Thursday after spending a night in a substandard hotel located in Lagos when they missed a chartered flight to Calabar despite being assured one would be availed to them on arrival.
Reports claim that the Kenyans were not given any security while in Lagos and had to find a primary school football pitch to work out.
NFF denies Kenya’s Allegation
Meanwhile Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has stated that the Kenyans are responsible for their own travel troubles in Nigeria.
The NFF claim that they chose a dilapidated primary school to train despite being offered a much better pitch at National Stadium, Lagos.
On Wednesday, pictures emerged showing Harambee stars players training on a grassless ground in Lagos, and their officials reportedly blaming their Nigerian counterparts for shoddy arrangements.
But NFF spokesman Demola Olajire revealed that the Kenyans had no one to blame but themselves.
Olajire said the Kenyans played hide and seek about their travel arrangements and refused to communicate their arrival date to the NFF despite numerous letters to them.
