BREAKING NEWS: Nigeria’s Famous Quarter Miler, Sunday Bada Dies

Sunday Bada (June 22, 1969 - December 12, 2011) was born in Kwara is a retired Nigerian sprinter who specialized in the 400 metres event. He was until his death the Technical Director of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN). He was reported to have slumped and died at the National Stadium, Lagos yesterday evening.
Bada won three medals at World Indoor Championships, including a gold medal in 1997.
In his days as an athlete, Sunday Bada won three medals at different World Indoor Championships; he won silver at the 1993 event which was held in Toronto, Canada. He repeated the same feat two years later in Barcelona while he won gold in 1997 at the Paris meet.
Bada who was also a police officer was a member of Nigeria’s 4 x 400 m men’s team that won silver at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.
He was aged 41.
